Minister for Indigenous Australians, Linda Burney, has invited land councils in the Northern Territory to apply for further terms as the Native Title Representative Bodies for their respective regions.

Both the Northern Land Council (NLC) and Central Land Council (CLC) have been invited to apply for further terms as their regions' Native Title Representative Bodies (NTRB), which help people in the Territory make Native Title claims and agreements.

Both the NLC and CLC are the current NTRBs for their NT regions, with terms expiring on June 30.

Anyone with a Native Title interest in the region, as well as all Aboriginal people living in the region, can make a submission to either the NLC or the CLC to help inform Minister Burney's decision.

Submissions are due by 5:00 PM (AEST), 16 April 2023.
