Callendar Park came alive late last month as thousands gathered for the International Legends of League clash in Innisfail.
The match between the Legends of League and the Cassowary Coast All Stars drew a crowd of about 5000, including local support and visitors from across Queensland as well as interstate.
The event was supported by Radiant Life College, the Innisfail Junior Leprechauns and the Queensland Government.
Dyirribarra and Dulgabara man from the Mamu Nation and Radiant Life College Principal, Nathanael Edwards, reflected on the impact of the event for students and the wider community.
"It was an incredible opportunity for our students to meet athletes they've watched and admired, and to hear directly about the values of hard work, resilience and believing in yourself," Mr Edwards said.
"The 'Dream, Believe, Achieve' message really resonated with our young people.
"To see our wider community come together at Callendar Park and welcome the Legends of League to the Cassowary Coast was something very special."

The event also included a visit by players to Radiant Life College ahead of the match.
Students had the opportunity to meet players, collect autographs and hear about leadership, resilience and teamwork.
Former Queensland Maroon Craig Teevan said the visit created a strong connection with students.
"Radiant Life College has been a tremendous supporter and a big driver of bringing this event to Innisfail and the Cassowary Coast region," Mr Teevan said.
"Being here meeting and mingling with the kids, delivering a few positive messages around our theme of Dream, Believe, Achieve - it's been great to see the smiles on their faces.
"Just seeing the smiles on the kids' faces and how attentive and respectful they were during the talk really shows what a wonderful school and community this is."
A highlight of the day was the return of Billy Slater, who took the field in front of family, friends and supporters in his hometown.
His appearance generated strong interest in the lead-up to the match and contributed to record pre-sales for the event.
The turnout reflected the region's passion for rugby league and the role major sporting events play in bringing communities together.
