Lance Collard will front a disciplinary tribunal next week after allegedly using a homophobic slur during a VFL match last week.

The Saints forward was under investigation by the AFL this week, with the league referring charges of an alleged breach in relation to the alleged incident.

In 2024, Collard was banned for six games for homophobic comments made while facing Willamstown in the VFL.

The 21-year-old is already unavailable for the next two weeks for a high hit on Frankston's Jackson Voss during Friday's game.

A date for the judiciary hearing has not been confirmed.

St Kilda confirmed their knowledge of the alleged incident on Saturday, with Collard reportedly denying the allegations against him.

According to News Corp this week, Collard has told AFL investigators he had said the word 'maggot'.

In an apology for the 2024 incident, Collard said he was " incredibly remorseful for my comments and any hurt they may have caused".

"I'm disappointed in myself and fully accept the consequences for my behaviour," he said.

The AFL's charge is an alleged breach of Rule 2.3 (a) (Conduct Unbecoming).

In recent seasons, players have been suspended for between three and six weeks, notably Izak Rankine's four game ban which ruled him out of Adelaide's 2025 finals campaign.

Collard has played 15 AFL games and kicked eight goals for the Saints at AFL level since being drafted in 2023.
