Indigenous Missing Persons Support Services confirmed on Wednesday the organisation's Specialist Volunteer Team is preparing to undertake a search for missing 25-year-old Indigenous man, Corey Stubbs, who has been missing since March this year.
Mr Stubbs was last seen about 8pm on Sunday, 22 March, in the Sussex Inlet area on the New South Wales South Coast.
In a joint statement, IMPSS Directors John Lewis, Leonie Duroux and Taz Millar said the team of almost 20 volunteers will be travelling from across Australia "with one united purpose: to stand beside Corey's family and conduct a coordinated search in the hope of bringing him home".
IMPSS Ltd is a specialist organisation "dedicated solely to supporting Indigenous families affected by missing persons" with "culturally respectful support, advocacy, and specialist search assistance at no cost to families".
The IMPSS directors said volunteers joining the search for Mr Stubbs include internationally respected forensic anthropologist Stephen Richey, who has recently relocated from the United States to Australia, and the IMPSS Certified Human Remains Detection Dog Team.
"This search represents far more than a field operation. It is a commitment to a young man who is deeply loved, and to a family that deserves answers," the IMPSS directors said.
"Every kilometre travelled, every hour volunteered, and every resource committed reflects our determination to assist in locating Corey and providing support to those who continue to wait for him."
The organisation extended its sincere gratitude to every volunteer, specialist, supporter and donor who has helped make this search possible.
"Without the generosity of the community, opportunities such as this would not exist," the directors noted.
"We respectfully ask everyone to keep Corey Stubbs, his family, and all those participating in the search in their thoughts. We remain hopeful that this collective effort will help provide the answers his loved ones have been seeking."
Indigenous Missing Persons Support Services said that anyone interested in supporting their work should contacted IMPSS Ltd directly via [email protected]. The organisation can also be found online.
