An all-Indigenous coaching panel plucked from AFL clubs will assist All Stars coach Xavier Clarke for the side's returning game against Fremantle in February.

The AFL announced the four-person panel on Friday, featuring premiership Hawk Chance Bateman, former Saints tall Jarrod Lienert, Port Adelaide development coach Jason Williams and the Dockers' NGA and game development coach Roger Hayden.

The quartet have been named assistant coaches under Clarke, who was named head coach of the side in December.

Swans icon Michael O'Loughlin heads the selection panel for the Indigenous All Stars squad.

"It is fantastic to have an all-Indigenous coaching panel join Xavier for this significant match," AFL executive general manager of social policy and inclusion Tanya Hosch said.

"We want to see Indigenous representation increase across the board in football, including within the coaching ranks, so to have an all-Indigenous coaching panel for this game is terrific."

11 players have been named in the squad, with remaining inclusions set to be announced in the coming weeks.

Kysaiah Pickett, who features in the squad, has been cleared to play despite a three-match ban hanging over his start to 2025 with the All Stars match being categorised as an exhibition game.

Comparatively, it was confirmed earlier this week league stars Latrell Mitchell and Josh Addo-Carr could count the NRL's All Stars match towards their bans, ruling them out of the match but bringing their return dates to the 2025 season forward.

On the AFL's Indigenous All Stars coaching side, Bateman is currently First Nations player development manager at the Eagles, with Lienert already working alongside Clarke at North as a development coach and Indigenous player development manager.

After a promising junior career, Williams swapped local footy for a development role at the Power in 2023.

Hayden played 128 senior games for Fremantle, with the Dockers set to wear the Indigenous jumper he and his uncle designed during the match on February 15.

In addition, veteran fitness coach Darren Burgess joins the Indigenous All Stars as high performance manager.

"Since we announced the match, the buy-in from the clubs, players and coaches, has been exceptional and we were inundated with applications for the various roles within the program," AFL executive general manager of football Laura Kane said.

"We are thrilled to appoint these coaches and give them the opportunity to work with Xavier and in turn gain valuable experience in their coaching pathway."
