The Indigenous All Stars strip for their return after a decade has been unveiled, with the legacy of football's First Nations stars, those who support their success, and future generations represented.

The All Stars are set to take the field in a season curtain-raiser against Fremantle at Optus Stadium on February 15.

The Dockers will wear their first Indigenous Round guernsey from 2013.

Jade Dolman's design is a "significant milestone in my career as an artist and as a proud First Nations person", the Whadjuk-Balladong Nyoongar and Eastern Arrernte woman said, "a celebration of cultural identity, dedication, talent, and community."

Ms Dolman wants those values, and legacy and excellence, in-focus with the jumper.

She said collaboration was an invaluable experience.

"From our very first conversation [with the AFL] I felt the cultural weight of this match, and I am incredibly proud of the final artworks that have come to life as a result."

Dolman also designed the Sherrin for the match, featuring the same river symbol - the legacy artwork representing children and the players, and Noongar work 'Miidj', meaning ball.

The league's inclusion and social policy executive general manager Tanya Hosch said both the ball and jumpers embodied First Nations stories and culture.

Freo's jumper bears the design from former Docker and Indigenous All Star Roger Hayden and his uncle Dr Richard Walley.

Today, Hayden is involved with the club through their Next Generation Academy and as game development coach.

"To see Fremantle wearing the jumper again, knowing the history and connection with Indigenous players that we've had as a club and to be playing against an Indigenous All- Stars team highlighting and celebrating first nations peoples, history and culture throughout the AFL, it's going to be great to see and an honour to be a part of," he said on Thursday.

11 players have already been named in Michael O'Loughlin and Xavier Clarke's All Stars squad, including Alex Pearce, Shai Bolton and Michael Walters - who'll switch allegiances for the game, and regular Derby rival Liam Ryan.

The rest of the squad is due to be confirmed ahead of the match next month.

"I'm a big fan of Jade's work and the story behind the design, and I'm looking forward to wearing this jumper with pride in the All Stars game," Ryan said.

"I feel honoured to be named in the team and I can't wait to play alongside some of the incredible indigenous talent in the league, like Shai Bolton, 'Kozzy' Pickett and Bobby Hill."
