Richmond has confirmed star pair Shai Bolton and Daniel Rioli have informed the club of their desire to seek trades during this year's trade period.

After strong speculation throughout the season, both Bolton and Rioli revealed to the club of their intentions to move on during their respective exit meetings earlier this week.

Tigers General Manager of Football Performance Blair Hartley expressed his disappointment in a statement released on Wednesday.

"Both Daniel and Shai have informed us of their requests for a trade during our end-of-season review process," Hartley said.

"Whilst we are disappointed, we have been in constant dialogue with both the players and their management throughout the course of the season.

"Out of respect to both players and their wishes, at the right time - we will open conversations with their clubs of choice.

"We will listen to what the clubs have to offer and determine whether or not we believe it is a viable trade and in the best interests of the Richmond Football Club."

The 25-year-old Bolton is hoping to land at either West Coast or Fremantle after stating to the club that he wishes to be traded to a Western Australian team.

The move is family-related with Bolton and his partner expecting their second child later this year and Perth being closer to the couple's families.

After being selected with pick 29 in the 2016 AFL National Draft, the Noongar man has contributed excellent service to the Tigers across his eight seasons on the club's list.

The 2022 All-Australian was a member of the club's back-to-back premiership wins in 2019 and 2020 and has finished in the top-five in the Tigers' best-and-fairest in each of the past four seasons.

Bolton was the club's leading goal-kicker in 2024, finishing with 34 goals, which including four-goal performances against St Kilda and Fremantle.

27-year-old Rioli has requested a trade to the Gold Coast in a bid to reunite with his former coach Damien Hardwick, who joined the Suns at the end of last season after a successful tenure at the Tigers.

The Tiwi man is coming off arguably a career-best season having averaged over 23 disposals and four rebound-50s across his 23 games.

A triple-premiership player, Rioli produced a career-high 36 disposals against St Kilda in Round 22, which earned him the Ian Stewart Medal for being judged best afield.

Both players are under contract at Richmond with Rioli signed for a further three seasons and Bolton signed until the end of the 2028.
