This year's Brisbane NAIDOC Ball took place at the weekend, hosted by Triple A.
The event was emceed by Wonnarua/Biri Gubba woman, Guyala Bayles, and Kevin Yow-Yeh, a Wakka Wakka/South Sea Islander man.
The Ball was a night dedicated to recognising and celebrating black excellence within the Southeast Queensland community, with the event featuring live performances and an awards ceremony encompassing various categories.
Garawa and Butchulla man Fred Leone won the 2024 Music Award.
"I spent my whole adult life creating something out of nothing," Mr Leone said.
"I always thought it doesnt matter if I make it or not, I'm just doing what I love and im leaving a legacy for the next generation.
"To this community and the brisbane blaks who helped raise me... I would not have the opportunity and the career in the music industry I have today."
Mr Leone will be featured in the Brisbane Festival on 1 September in the Meanjin Songlinez show.
Meanjin Songlinez is a premier event of the Brisbane Festival season, offering a deep immersion into the rich tapestry of Indigenous culture and creativity.

The event highlighted the achievements and contributions of individuals and organisations, reinforcing the importance of celebrating and supporting Indigenous talent and success.
The 2024 NAIDOC theme, Keep the Fire Burning: Blak, Loud and Proud, celebrates the resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and calls for solidarity to amplify their voices.
