The Larrakia Nation Aboriginal Cooperation has formalised its 'Yes' stance in favour of the Indigenous to Parliament.

It comes as the directors of the Larrakia Nation Aboriginal Corporation Board determined to support a 'Yes' vote in the referendum for constitutional recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people through the Voice.

Larrakia Nation Aboriginal Corporation chair Jerome Cubillo said he was pleased the corporation's Directors had made the decision to support the upcoming Voice referendum.

"We've discussed the issues facing our community and have listened to Larrakia people," Mr Cubillo said.

"Having a Voice to Parliament will make sure Larrakia people and all Indigenous people get a say about Government policies and funding that directly affects us, our families and our communities.

"As the oldest living continuous culture in the world, we can no longer be refugees in the country of our ancestors, and we strongly encourage all Australians to vote "Yes" in the 2023 Voice Referendum."

Based in Darwin, Larrakia Nation Aboriginal Corporation is the peak body and cultural authority for Larrakia peoples.

Through various programs and initiatives, the Corporation supports individuals and communities, promoting social, economic, and cultural well-being.

The decision for Larrakia Nation Aboriginal Corporation to support the Voice was welcomed by Yes23 Campaign Director and Referendum Working Group member Dean Parkin.

"Larrakia Nation has a long history of advocating for the rights of Larrakia people," Mr Parkin said.

"The support of LNAC Directors is a good example of how Indigenous organisations across Australia, with their finger on the pulse of their community, are stepping forward to say Yes to a Voice to Parliament.

"We see this as a demonstration of the conversations now going on in local communities across the country – where it belongs."

Larrakia Nation Aboriginal Corporation's Voice support follows the Aboriginal Peak Organisations NT's declaration for the Voice.

The Northern Territory's four land councils, the Northern Land Council, Central Land Council, Tiwi Land Council and Anindilyakwa Land Council have also declared their support for the Voice.
