Thanakwith (Aboriginal) and Wagadagam (Torres Strait Islander) man Royston Sagigi-Baira has been voted the winner of Australian Idol 2023.
The 24-year-old vocalist from Mapoon, Cape York wins $100,000 plus a contract with Sony Music and releases a new single.
"I just want to say thank you so much to everyone who voted for me. Thank all this mob up here, all my family and friends for coming. Everyone who's been voting, thank you so much," he said on Sunday night.
He defeated runner up Phoebe Stewart from Busselton and Josh Hannan from Melbourne in third place.
Sagigi-Baira made a huge splash in the auditions, performing his breathtaking rendition of "I'm not the only one" by Sam Smith.
One performance after another stunned viewers across Australia as the young man marched inexorably to victory.
Days before the final he wowed the crowd with a rendition of James Morrison's "I won't let you go", then shared a touching Instagram post comment on his early life and how much he has achieved and overcome.

"To think that little boy from a small Indigenous community in Far North Queensland that used to get bullied for singing and was so shy to sing in front of anyone because if it," Sagigi-Baira wrote.
"I wish I could tell him what he's gonna do in the future and see his face expressions! Can't believe this. Thank you so much everyone."
The series was hosted by Ricki-Lee and Scott Tweedie and judged by Harry Connick Jr, Meghan Trainor, Kyle Sandilands and Amy Shark.
