Police have released images of a vehicle linked to the fatal shooting of a young Indigenous mother-of-three in North Toowoomba.

Emergency services responded to reports of a disturbance at the corner of West Street and Christmas Street around 1.50pm on Wednesday.

Upon arrival, they found 27-year-old Kara Jade Weribone critically injured on a footpath. She was taken to Toowoomba Hospital, where she later died.

As part of Operation Xray Meg, detectives have spoken with three individuals present at the scene, who are assisting police with inquiries.

Authorities are now appealing for public assistance to identify the occupants of a 2004 white Toyota Camry, which was located on Gladstone Street in North Toowoomba shortly after the incident.

Detectives are interested in speaking with anyone who was in the vicinity of Christmas Street, West Street, or Gladstone Street at the time, or anyone with dashcam footage from the area.

Acting Detective Inspector Brian Collins said investigations are ongoing but confirmed police do not believe the incident was related to domestic violence or drugs.

"It's devastating for someone to lose their life in such a way, and we're working to determine exactly what happened," Mr Collins said.

Despite the nature of the shooting, police have reassured the public that there is no ongoing safety threat.
