Kambu Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Corporation for Health (Kambu Health) has announced the Inaugural NAIDOC Gala Ball 2024, celebrating cultural heritage, unity, and achievement within the Indigenous community in Ipswich and West Moreton.
Kambu Health is a community-controlled, not-for-profit charitable entity. It provides healthcare and community services to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community in the Ipswich and West Moreton region, one of Australia's fastest-growing areas.
Scheduled for Saturday, 6 July, at the Queensland Museum Rail Workshops Ipswich, the event's theme is "Our People – Our Community – Our Health – Our Way."
Gamilaroi woman and Kambu Health chief executive Simone Jackson said "we are thrilled to announce our inaugural NAIDOC Gala Ball, an event that honors the rich cultural heritage of our community and pays tribute to the achievements of the First Nations people".
"This gala ball represents a significant milestone for us, and we look forward to bringing our community together for an evening of celebration, unity, and cultural homage," she said.
The Gala Ball will host over 300 attendees, featuring a three-course dinner and live entertainment by the Indigenous band CKNU.
Renowned Ngarrindjeri comedian Kevin Kropinyeri will serve as the Master of Ceremonies.
The evening will also include an Awards Ceremony, celebrating local champions who have made significant contributions to the community, recognising their dedication and commitment to positive change.
