Recognised as one of the fashion industry's top First Nations brands, Ngali are renowned for their impressive fashion week runways.

This week was no different, with designer and founder Denni Francisco bringing her popular brand back to the Melbourne Fashion Week runway.

Since showcasing at Australian Fashion Week, Fransciso said, along with MFW preparation, the last few months have been extremely busy,

"It's certainly been an exciting six months for Ngali. We presented our third solo runway at Australian Fashion Week in Sydney in May, continued developing new collections and have just returned from Paris, where we showcased Ngali as part of the inaugural Australian Fashion Rooms during Paris Fashion Week," Francisco told Style Up.

"Paris was a wonderful opportunity to introduce Ngali to an international audience, connect with buyers and industry, and share the stories behind our collections.

"It was also incredibly rewarding to be part of a collective of Australian designers, sharing experiences, learnings and possibilities for what comes next.

"And now we're back in Melbourne. Things are always evolving."

Thrilled to be back at MFW, Francisco said she is always eager to reconnect with First Nations designers and friends.

"It's always wonderful to be part of Melbourne Fashion Week, particularly alongside other First Nations creatives," she said.

"There's something very special about the energy that comes from being together, celebrating each other's creativity and seeing the different ways our stories and perspectives are expressed through fashion.

"For me, it's also about creating space and opportunities for First Nations creativity to be experienced as an integral part of Australia's contemporary fashion landscape.

"We each bring something different, and collectively that makes for a powerful and exciting showcase."

Having presented her Wander with Wonder Mark II collection on The Edit runway, Francisco said the collection was an evolution of what they showed at Australian Fashion Week.

"We'll be presenting Wander with Wonder Mark II, evolving the collection we showcased at Australian Fashion Week," Francisco told Style Up.

"This next chapter captures that wonderful sense of moving with ease into the warmer months and the holiday season.

"There's a feeling of freedom, movement and possibility, with pieces designed to travel, transition between occasions and become part of the wearer's own journey.

"The collection brings together colour, print and texture, with versatile silhouettes that reflect Ngali's approach to contemporary fashion — thoughtful pieces that can be worn in different ways, well beyond a single season."

Striving to curate a runway which creates opportunities for all First Nations creatives, Francisco said Ngali is passionate about proving opportunities for both exposure and growth for models especially.

"We're always passionate about is creating opportunities for as many First Nations models as possible to walk in Ngali shows," she said.

"Representation matters, and we love seeing First Nations models bringing their own presence, personality and energy to the runway.

"It's another way we can celebrate and support the incredible talent within our communities.

"For Ngali, it's always been about more than the next collection. It's about the possibilities that open up through creativity, collaboration and the connections we make along the way. That's what keeps the journey exciting — you never quite know where it might collectively take us next."

Eager to build on the brand's growth and connections within the fashion industry, Francisco is looking forward to developing the brand further, pushing boundaries and forming new international relationships.

"We're looking forward to building on the connections and opportunities that have come from Paris, particularly as we explore new international markets and relationships," she said.

"We're also continuing to develop new collections, explore different design elements and ways of creating, and find new opportunities for creative collaborations.

"Something we're particularly excited about is a series of upcoming workshops where we'll spend time with a number of our First Nations artists and creatives, exploring ideas together and imagining new possibilities.

"It's about creating space for conversations, shared thinking and discovering how we can expand economic opportunities within the creative sector."
