Northern Territory draft prospect Sonny Smiler has continued to impress ahead of next month's AFL Draft, producing a strong performance at the National Draft Combine.
The talented youngster recorded six top-10 finishes during testing, placing himself among the country's best young footballers in several categories.
Smiler's speed was particularly impressive, recording the second-fastest 20-metre sprint time of 2.868 seconds.
He also finished third in the 10-metre sprint with a time of 1.720 seconds and fifth over five metres in 1.040 seconds.
The Wanderers footballer performed strongly in other testing areas, finishing 10th in the running vertical jump off his right foot with a leap of 86cm.
His strength was another highlight, recording the second-best result in the ISO belt squat's peak vertical force relative to body mass category with 106.94 N/kg.
He also finished fourth in peak vertical force with a result of 6,827 N.
AFL Northern Territory High Performance Lead Rob Moore praised Smiler's performances and said the youngster had continued to develop throughout the year.
"Sonny has put together a really strong year and his performance at the Combine was another positive step," Moore said.
"His speed was a real highlight, finishing second in the 20-metre sprint and inside the top five across the five, 10 and 20-metre splits."

Moore said Smiler had made the most of his opportunities in 2026, although there was still work ahead before the draft.
"He's continued to take each opportunity presented to him this year and now the focus turns to the Draft," he said.
"There's still plenty of work ahead, but Sonny should be proud of what he's achieved and we're looking forward to supporting him through what comes next."
The testing results add to an impressive year for Smiler, who has represented the Northern Territory and Allies at representative level.
He was particularly impressive for the Territory in the Talent League competition, averaging 14 disposals and four tackles per game across four appearances.
Smiler also kicked six goals during the campaign and was named among his team's best players in every match.
The NT Academy product was also part of the AFL Academy program earlier this year, representing the national side against North Melbourne's VFL team in April.
His performances have caught the attention of AFL Talent Ambassador Kevin Sheehan, who recently included Smiler among the leading small prospects available in this year's draft.
Sheehan highlighted the youngster's speed and ability to create space from opponents, along with his effectiveness playing on a wing or across half-forward.
The 2026 AFL Draft will take place on November 19 and 20, followed by the Rookie Draft on November 23.
