Former AFL player Steven Motlop is set to transfer from Wanderers to PINT this upcoming Northern Territory Football League season.

Motlop's move is the most high-profile player transfer announced so far this off season and will do plenty to boost the Greenants' chances of an inaugural finals berth.

The former Geelong and Port Adelaide star made his highly anticipated return to the local Territory competition at the beginning of last season and produced outstanding football for Wanderers.

Despite his team's lack of on-field success, Motlop was clearly among the top echelon of players in the NTFL, finishing third in the league's goal-kicking while spending large portions of the season in the midfield.

His best game was an incredible 26-disposal 12-goal performance against the Tiwi Bombers in Round 16.

Motlop finished his AFL career after 217 games and 229 goals across 13 seasons at the elite level.

He had a career-best year in 2013 for Geelong, recording 44 goals for the season and earning selection in the All-Australian squad.

The 32-year-old joins his brother and North Melbourne premiership player Shannon, who is the coach of PINT.

Motlop was appointed coach of the NTFL's newest club last year and took the team to a creditable five wins and two draws from 16 games in their first season in the competition.

The Greenants have gone on a recruiting spree this off-season with Steven's cousin Thomas Motlop also expected to join the club.

Thomas Motlop has played over 200 NTFL games in a decorated career that was highlighted by a Chaney Medal in 2014/15 after a brilliant shut down job on former St Kilda player Stephen Milne, who was playing for St Marys.

Another talented local Liam Holt-Fitz is likely to join the Greenants after one season with the Darwin Buffaloes.

Holt-Fitz – a classy small forward – is a three-time premiership player with Nightcliff and won the 2018/19 Chaney Medal.

PINT start the season with a clash against the Darwin Buffaloes at TIO Stadium on October 7.
