Popular Indigenous social enterprise House of Darwin worked with First Nations artist Molly Hunt on a new limited edition collection out this month, described as a collaboration rooted in story, surface and place.

Aiming to explore identity, memory and connection to Country through a bold visual language, the new collection is not only a reflection of Hunt's skills as an artist but also her personal experiences growing up as an Indigenous woman.

Hunt is a Balanggarra/Yolŋu woman with strong ties to Bunuba, Jaru and Gija Country. Originally from Wyndham in the Kimberley —the oldest town in the region— she now lives and works on Country in Derby.

Wyndham is often called "Smokey Town"—a name born from the haunting, smoke-like haze that settles over the landscape during the dry season. Controlled burns and bushfires wrap the town in a misty veil, casting light through ancient red ranges and giving the place an otherworldly feel.

For many, "Smokey Town" captures the raw, elemental spirit of Wyndham. A place shaped by fire, sky, and story.

Hunt's work moves between digital collage, painting and textiles—layering personal memory, matriarchal strength, and cultural symbolism.

This collection brings her visual world to life through garments that carry the energy of place drawn from her ongoing series Living With Country. Every line and shape reflects a deep listening to landscape, story and movement.

This is part of an ongoing series by House of Darwin to spotlight First Nations artists across the continent sharing stories, creating connection, and supporting the next generation through design. A portion of profits from this release goes directly back to the artist.

Founder Shaun Edwards said House of Darwin is "so excited to share Molly's story".

"At House of Darwin we want to shine a light on contemporary Indigenous stories and I love that we get to shine a light on Wyndham - a place special to Molly, " he said.
