Tiwi man Maurice Rioli Jnr will remain at Richmond for at least another season after signing a one-year contract extension with the club.
The 24-year-old was among several Tigers players whose futures remained uncertain following the conclusion of the 2026 season, but the club confirmed his re-signing on Tuesday.
The new deal gives Rioli another opportunity to establish himself in Richmond's senior side after a frustrating year interrupted by injury.
Rioli managed just 10 AFL appearances in 2026, kicking one goal and averaging 6.9 disposals per game.
The talented small forward started the season in Richmond's senior side, playing each of the opening six matches before suffering a hamstring injury.
He eventually returned against Brisbane in Hobart, producing a career-high eight tackles in an encouraging performance.
Despite his defensive efforts, Rioli struggled to hold down a regular position in the senior team during the second half of the year.
He spent time playing in the VFL before earning a recall for Richmond's final match of the season against Geelong.
Richmond's Executive General Manager of Football Talent Blair Hartley said the club was pleased to secure Rioli's services for another year.
"We know what Maurice brings to our team," Hartley said in a statement released by Richmond.
"He is a team lifting player with his speed and defensive intent.
"Maurice still has plenty more upside which is exciting for us, and we are looking forward to seeing him continue to expand his game in 2027."

While Rioli has established a reputation for his exceptional defensive pressure and tackling ability, his offensive output remains an area for improvement.
The Territorian managed one goal from 10 appearances this season, and will be hoping to make a greater impact on the scoreboard next year.
With only a one-year contract secured, 2027 shapes as a make-or-break season for Rioli as he looks to cement his long-term future at Punt Road.
Rioli originally joined Richmond through the father-son rule in the 2020 AFL National Draft, with the Tigers securing him at pick 51.
He followed in the footsteps of his late father, Maurice Rioli Snr, who played 118 games for Richmond and famously won the Norm Smith Medal in the 1982 VFL Grand Final.
Rioli Jnr made his AFL debut in 2021 and has since played 59 senior matches across six seasons.
His contract extension was announced alongside teammate Hugo Ralphsmith, who has also committed to the Tigers for the 2027 season.
