After re-settling into Gold Coast's senior side late in the 2025 season, Jy Farrar has signed a one-year extension with the club.

Ahead of returning in July's Q Clash against Brisbane, where the Suns lodged a 11-goal win over the eventual premiers on their own run towards a maiden finals berth, it had been more than 23 months, or over 700 days between AFL games for Farrar.

The 28-year-old slotted three goals on his return, and backed it up with two against Richmond the following week, after a recall in Damien Hardwick's side following a period of solid form in the VFL.

Originally from Halls Creek, Farrar played every of the Suns' remaining games for the year, ending with eight games including two finals under his belt in a historic year for the club.

He'll go around again in 2026 after penning a deal for next year.

"Jy has played several roles throughout his time at our club at both ends of the field, and earned an opportunity to play in our first final," Suns general manager of player talent and strategy Craig Cameron said.

Farrar re-signed alongside young tall Asher Eastham, announced on Monday.

Picked up out of Adelaide's SANFL side following a couple of games there with the 60th selection in the 2019 draft, Farrar played a single AFL game in his debut year before career-best 14 and 10 appearance seasons in 2021-22.

Round 22, in August of the 2023 season was his last taste at the top level until late July of this year.

He kicked 16.10 in seven games before forcing his way back into the senior team.

Again at AFL level, Farrar hit the scoreboard in all but two appearances, ending with 10 majors from eight games.

Farrar has played 43 games across six seasons since being drafted to the Gold Coast.
