Although the one year anniversary of Cassius Turvey's death has already passed, a memorial is set to be unveiled in honour of the 15-year-old.
The public event will be held in Midland on Tuesday 31 October, coinciding with Halloween, a time of creativity, community and coming together, which was Cassius' favourite day of the year.
Created by the City of Swan and the Turvey family, the unveiling of the memorial will be a celebration of his life. It features 15 values that Cassius embodied during his 15 years.
The memorial will be a space where young people can gather to remember Cassius and reflect on the extraordinary impact he had on the lives of others.
Cassius' mother, Mechelle Turvey, who has inspired people around the world with her strength and compassion, will speak at the event.
Last year saw a similar gathering of the community, when a candlelight vigil was held on the same day for Cassius just weeks after his death.
The event was filled with tears, songs, dances and emotional speeches from his family and friends, with hundreds of people in attendance to pay respect or show support.
Cassius was 15-years-old when he was allegedly attacked On October 13 last year as he walked down the street in Middle Swan from school with his friends.
He was rushed to hospital with severe head trauma however died 10 days later.
Jack Steven, James Brealey, Aleesha Louise Gilmore, Mitchell Colin Forth and Brodie Lee Palmer, have been charged with Cassius' murder, to which they pled not guilty in May.
In June of this year, Ms Turvey donated up to $20,000, each to groups that supported her late son.
They included Koya Aboriginal Corporation, Binar Futures, the Lawn Mowing Boys, and the SCYC.
The trial of Cassius' accused murderers is set to begin in February 2025, which is expected to run for eight weeks in the WA Supreme Court.
Until then Cassius' family will keep his name in the spotlight and make sure he will be remembered as a kind soul.
The official event is scheduled to run from 4-6pm at the Weeip Park, 35 The Crescent, Midland with the formalities commencing at 4pm.
The Turvey family encourages those who are attending to dress in their best halloween costumes.
