Madandjin (Brisbane) will celebrate NAIDOC 2025 with a free family event titled Yaggara Kakka – Walkin' in the Footsteps of Our Ancestors.

The gathering will take place on Sunday 6 July from 10am to 5pm at the City Botanic Gardens' ceremonial platform.

The event invites the public to celebrate First Nations heritage through a day of music, dance, arts, stalls and rides, with a strong focus on cultural connection and community.

Entry is via Garden Point Road and all are welcome.

The event is part of NAIDOC Week's national theme, The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy, running from 6 to 13 July 2025.

Organisers have confirmed the event will be a non-drug and alcohol-free space to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all.

The gathering is supported by local business sponsors and funded by the National Indigenous Australians Agency.

It will also serve as an opportunity for community engagement and cultural education.

Yaggara Kakka 2025 continues a tradition of recognising and celebrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, stories and contributions in the heart of Brisbane.
