Highly-touted West Australian midfielder Zipporah Fish will make the move east to the Sydney Swans after going at pick five in the AFLW draft on Monday night.

The 18-year-old comes with a proven pedigree, already stringing together three senior WAFL seasons with East Fremantle.

The Pilbara product, known for electric pace, averaged 24.6 disposals, 4.6 tackles, four clearances in a club best-and-fairest winning campaign for the Sharks in 2024, helping the side to the minor premiership before falling just short of Claremont in July's grand final.

Fish finished second, one point behind Claremont's Jayme Harken in the Dhara Kerr WAFLW best-and-fairest count.

She'd accumulated a league-record 39 disposal while also hitting the scoreboard in her first appearance in the year for East Fremantle.

Still 17 at the time, Fish was handed the Lou Knitter Medal for her best afield, 26-touch performance in the previous year's decider - a two goal win over the Tigers.

She earned her second All Australian selection in as many years after averaging 20 touches for WA at this year's National Championships.

Speaking on Monday night, Sydney senior coach Scott Gowans forecast an immediate impact from the pacey, silky midfielder - able to use both sides of the body, to Sydney's prospects.

"She brings a lot of talent," Gowans said.

"I think Swans fans are gonna be very excited. She's quick, very clean off the deck and takes the game on and kicks both sides of her body, so very important for a ball movement side."

The Swans also picked up Academy academy graduate Amelia Martin, Cats VFL and local Sydney league player Caitlin Reid and South Australian Sarah Steele-Park with following picks.

After turning around a winless debut year with an inaugural finals run in 2023, Sydney laboured to just three wins across the 2024 season.
