The Tiwi Islands Football League reached its crescendo at the weekend with premiers in both the men's and women's competitions decided in front of a large crowd at Wurrumiyanga.
The games were played in front of thousands of spectators and were the culmination of a strong season of football that saw a big increase in participation rates.
It was also the first time in the competition's history that the men's and women's grand finals were held simultaneously on the same day.
In the women's competition, Tapalinga Superstars proved too strong for Muluwurri to win by 44 points.
Tapalinga's Edmina 'Gypsy' Johnson was the star performer with four goals in a clear best-on-ground display as her team won 9.13 (67) to 3.5 (23).
The Superstars hit the ground running with two early goals in the first couple of minutes, which set the tone for the rest of the contest.
Muluwurri finally registered their first goal halfway through the second term, but they were no match for the faster and more skilful Superstars team.
Kathleen Cunningham and Gerry Cunningham both contributed multiple goals, while Jasmine Cunningham finished with one major.
Josh Kleine – the Football Development Lead for the Tiwi Islands – lauded the growth of the women's competition.
"The women's game saw significant improvement in quality, driven by advanced coaching and tactical growth," Kleine said.
"The finals displayed exceptional football, highlighting the hard work of the coaches, players and the entire TIFL community.
"We'd like to congratulate the TIFL Committee on a successful season."
In the Men's Grand Final, Ranku outlasted a determined Muluwurri to claim victory by 13 points in what was a high standard match-up.
The Eagles and the Magpies were the top two teams throughout the season and it was a highly anticipated contest given the previous game between the two clubs was decided by less than a goal.

Little separated either team for the first three quarters and at the final change Ranku held a narrow advantage.
Both teams had their chances in an entertaining final term, but a three-goal-to-two final term in favour of Ranku was enough to seal the victory 8.12 (60) to 6.11 (47).
Northern Territory Football League Rising Star winner Karlson Kantilla was at his dynamic best for the Eagles and claimed best-on-ground honours while Francis Orsto and Quinten Ross were the team's multiple goal scorers.
Ranku coach Brian Tipungwuti said he was confident his team was going to get the win.
"I knew we were going to take it out," he told the ABC post-match.
"I know my players and how we play football and all their good work on the training field."
