White Ribbon Australia has appointed Vicky Welgraven AM to its Workplace Accreditation Panel, strengthening the national program's governance and cultural expertise.

Ms Welgraven is a proud Adnyamathanha woman from the Northern Flinders Ranges in South Australia and brings more than 30 years of distinguished service across Federal and State Government.

White Ribbon said on Tuesday the appointment reflects the organisation's "continued focus on embedding diverse perspectives and strengthening the impact of its Workplace Accreditation Program, which supports organisations to prevent men's violence against women".

Currently General Manager, First Nations Unit, Aboriginal Engagement at the Department of Primary Industries and Regions South Australia (PIRSA), Ms Welgraven has built a career advocating for gender equality, respectful relationships, and an end to domestic and family violence.

Her leadership extends across a number of national roles, including Co-Deputy Chair of the Our Watch Board, Deputy Chair of Power Community Limited, Ambassador for Hutt Street Centre, and Member of UN Women Australia.

Ms Welgraven said preventing violence against women requires sustained action across all sectors.

"Preventing violence against women requires action at every level, including in our workplaces," she said.

"The Workplace Accreditation Program is more than a framework - it's a commitment to creating workplaces where people feel genuinely safe, respected and valued. It offers organisations a meaningful pathway to bring equality to life in everyday actions, not just words.

"For First Nations communities, this journey matters deeply, because culturally safe and inclusive workplaces are not optional, they are essential to building trust, dignity and lasting change."

Ms Welgraven was awarded the Order of Australia Medal (AM) in January 2022 for significant service to women through social welfare organisations and to Indigenous health. In March 2026, she was also recognised as Aboriginal Woman of Achievement by the Lord Mayor of Adelaide.

White Ribbon Australia National Director, Claire Hurst, said Ms Welgraven's appointment brings valuable leadership and insight to the panel.

"Embedding diverse voices in our leadership and governance is critical to effective prevention. Vicky brings her cultural knowledge and experience, insight and a strong commitment to advancing safer, more respectful workplaces across Australia," she said.
