Indigenous speedster Charlie Anderson has delivered a strong performance with the ball on day two of the Cricket Australia XI's tour match against the England Lions.

The 19-year-old took an innings best 3/31 from 9.4 overs, playing a key role in the CA XI bowling the Lions out for 213 from inside 59 overs on Wednesday at Brisbane's Ian Healy Oval.

Promoted to open the bowling after being used as second change in the first innings of the match, the Kamilaroi quick wasted no time in dismissing Lions opener and first innings high scorer Alex Davies (10 from 14) in his second over.

In a subsequent spell Anderson also picked up Lions no. 6 James Coles (3 from 19) before ending the innings by clean bowling no. 11 Sam Cook (23 from 19).

The NSW prodigy and Tasmanian Gabe Bell both picked up three wickets in the innings while opener Ben McKinney (94 from 130), was Lions best with the bat.

Anderson finished the match with combined figures of 5/82 from 19.4 overs.

The Cricket Australia XI wrapped up the match on Thursday, winning by a comfortable seven wickets after an unbeaten century from opener Tim Ward (115* retired from 207) and half-century from Peter Handscomb (57 from 104).

After remaining not out (1* from 12) in the first innings, Anderson was not required with the bat as the CA XI chased 261 to win in 73.3 overs.

The England Lions will next face Australia A at Sydney's Cricket Central later this month, with Worimi seamer Brendan Doggett selected for the home side.
