Rising Indigenous seamer Charlie Anderson has played a role in a Cricket Australia XI bundling the touring England Lions out for a sub-par 223 on day one of their four-day fixture at Brisbane's Ian Healy Oval on Tuesday.
Anderson was brought on as second change in the 12th over of the match after the Lions won the toss and elected to bat, the Kamilaroi quick finishing with figures of 2-51 from his 10 overs.
The 19-year-old opened his account in 16th over after Lions number 3 Freddie McCann (30 from 47), was caught by Jayden Goodwin, the dismissal breaking a 74-run second wicket stand.
In a later spell Anderson claimed his second wicket in Rocky Flintoff (19 from 31), the son of former England Test allrounder Andrew, caught by CA XI captain Peter Handscomb to see the Lions slump to 7-198.
The tourists were eventually all out for 223 inside 55 overs, with experienced seamer Cameron Gannon the pick of the CA XI's attack, the Queensland come West Australian finishing with 5-27 (12.4).
Opener Alex Davies top scored with 54 (60).
After selection in Australia's triumphant Under 19 World Cup side last year, Anderson has experienced a rapid rise to professional cricket.
On List A debut for New South Wales in October, he took 3-37 (6), a performance which included the wickets of Australian Internationals Glenn Maxwell and Matt Short.
Anderson also impressed for the Prime Minister's XI against in India last month.
