Minderoo Foundation's 2023 Dream Venture Masterclasses are now open for applications, providing First Nations business owners in Australia with a unique opportunity to receive $200,000 in seed funding, one of the largest pre-accelerator prizes in the country.
Led by the Generation One initiative established by Andrew and Nicola Forrest, this national program equips entrepreneurs with the necessary connections, capabilities, and access to capital to become investor-ready.
The Masterclasses, delivered online by the renowned Wade Institute of Entrepreneurship, offer two distinct streams: the Youth Program and the All Ages Program.
Shelley Cable, the Director of Generation One, said she was excited about the program's return and the opportunity to build upon the success of previous years.
"We are constantly inspired by the innovative First Nations founders who take part in this program, who are redefining success in Australian business, and making Australian investors take notice. We are humbled to play a small part in their business journeys through the Dream Venture Masterclasses," Ms Cable said.
The Youth Program targets entrepreneurs between 18 and 30 years old, providing them with invaluable connections to business leaders, investors, and global networks.
Participants will also benefit from mentorship opportunities with successful founders. The All Ages Program, on the other hand, focuses on supporting 20 First Nation Australian entrepreneurs of any age. It offers tailored guidance to prepare their enterprises for growth and facilitates connections with mentors, investors, and like-minded peers.
Les Delaforce, the Head of Indigenous Business at Generation One, highlighted the impact of First Nations businesses in employing Indigenous Australians.
Mr Delaforce particularly emphasised the significance of the Dream Venture program.
"This authentic, tailored program is critical to nurturing the next generation of First Nations entrepreneurs and ensuring they have the capability and connections to thrive in the business world," he said.
Interested First Nations founders looking to grow their businesses through investment are encouraged to apply at www.dreamventure.com.au before entries close on 12 July 2023.
