Police in Western Australia's Kimberley region are seeking public assistance to locate a 23-year-old woman who they say may be able to assist with an ongoing investigation.

Ammyella Benning is described as about 166 centimetres tall, with a slim build, black hair and brown eyes.

Police believe she has been frequenting the town of Derby, about 220 kilometres east of Broome.

Members of the public are urged not to approach Ms Benning if they see her, but to instead contact police.

Anyone with information about her whereabouts or recent movements are asked to call police on 131 444, or contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Reports to Crime Stoppers can be made anonymously.
