Police are investigating a death in the remote Queensland community of Doomadgee after a man's body was found in the Nicholson River.
Emergency services were called at around 1:15pm on Sunday afternoon, where police found the man.
He was later pronounced deceased.
National Indigenous Times understands the 43-year-old man was Indigenous.
He had last been seen in Doomadgee on August 5.
At the most recent Census the remote Queensland community had a population less than 1,400 people, with 89 per cent of people identifying as First Nations.
Doomadgee is located along the Nicholson River near the most southern tip of the Gulf of Gulf of Carpentaria in Queensland's west towards the Northern Territory border.
Queensland Police have issued a call for information or sightings of the man between August 5 and August 10.
