Bulldogs defender Liam Jones has been lifted into the club's leadership group among a host of fresh faces to lead the side in 2024.
On Wednesday the Dogs announced cult hero Tom Liberatore as new vice captain under skipper Marcus Bomtempelli with Jack McRae stepping down from the position after two years.
Aaron Naughton and Caleb Daniel have been named deputy vice captains in a rare move for competition clubs, with Jones joined by Ed Richards and Taylor Duryea in the seven man group.
"Jonesy - the impression he's made over the last couple of years has been outstanding," Liberatore told Bulldogs media.
"To see him in the group is really exciting."
It comes just one year after Jones, a proud Indigenous man, returned to the kennel having chosen to retire at Carlton ahead of the 2022 season.
He spent the year with QAFL side Palm Beach-Currumbin before being picked up by the Bulldogs for a second time and returning to the big stage in 2023.
In an interview with SEN last year, Jones said he was "grateful" for the opportunity presented by the club, fourteen years on from being drafted there as a 17-year-old.
Jones spent seven years as a Blue between 2015-2021.
The 32-year-old led the Bulldogs for intercept marks (54) and spoils (113) across half back last season - figures amongst the best in the competition.
He received the Scott West Award for the their most courageous player at last year's club best-and-fairest.
The Bulldogs kick off their season against Melbourne at the MCG on March 17.
