Vanessa Kickett has been appointed as the new chief executive officer of Western Australia's South West Land and Sea Council (SWALSC).
In being appointed to the role, the Proud Noongar woman becomes SWALSC's first female CEO.
Ms Kickett has a decades-long history of supporting and advocating for Noongar people, possessing more than 20 years of leadership, business development and community and stakeholder engagement experience.
Ms Kickett said it was an honour to be entrusted by the SWALSC board to continue to support Noongar people.
"I am deeply honoured to be trusted by the Board in the appointment of Chief Executive Officer for SWALSC as the Central Services Corporation, to continue the important work to support and inspire a strong and unified Noongar Nation," Ms Kickett said.
"Our focus now is to strive to deliver exceptional services to the newly established regional corporations."
In 2021, SWALSC became the Central Services Corporation in Western Australia's south-west, supported six Noongar regional corporations in their journey to endorsement.
Since SWALSC's establishment as the Central Services Corporation, it has been delivering a range of administrative, corporate, financial, and unique services to the six regional corporations.
Ms Kickett has been instrumental in implementing the South West Native Title Settlement, and establishing both the regional corporations and the Central Services Corporation.
SWALSC chair Brendan Moore said Ms Kickett's appointment acknowledged her long-term dedication to the Noongar community.
"The Board has a high regard for Vanessa's leadership, deep cultural knowledge, ongoing dedication, and commitment to the Noongar community, and has made this appointment at a critical time in the Settlement's implementation," Mr Moore said.
"We are proud to have an inspirational, admirable and highly respected first Noongar woman leading SWALSC as the Central Services Corporation."
Ms Kickett has been appointed as SWALSC's Chief Executive Officer for a three-year term.
