More than 100 Clontarf Foundation academy members from Kent Street, Belmont, Ellenbrook, Fremantle, Gilmore, Girrawheen, Kiara, Scotch and Swan View academies had the opportunity to meet some of the game's biggest names on Thursday, as AFL State of Origin players visited Clontarf's Kent Street Academy in Boorloo ahead of Saturday night's historic clash at Optus Stadium.

Indigenous WA representatives Charlie Cameron, Shai Bolton, Kysaiah Pickett, Brad Hill and Lawson Humphries were joined by Victorian players Marcus Bontempelli and Zach Merrett as they spent time with academy members, speaking about the pride of State selection, preparation at the elite level and the standards required to perform consistently.

The visit included plenty of one-on-one interaction, with players taking the time to answer questions, take photos and sign jumpers, posters and other memorabilia for the boys.

Clontarf Foundation CEO Gerard Neesham, himself a former Western Australian State of Origin representative, said the opportunity for academy members to meet elite players in person carried genuine value.

"Representing your state is one of the great honours in any sport, and something that stays with you for life," Mr Neesham said.

"For our young men to meet players who are preparing to run out for their state this weekend helps bring that sense of pride and achievement to life.

"Moments like this allow academy members to see firsthand what can be achieved through commitment, teamwork and consistently applying yourself, whether that's in sport, school or later in employment."

The Foundation thanked the AFL and WA Football Commission for creating this special opportunity for the young Clontarf men.
