MPs and key political figures have responded to Julian Leeser's decision to resign from the Liberal Party frontbench and Ken Wyatt's decision to quit the party entirely due to their opposition to the Liberal Party's stance on the Voice.
Leeser, the former Shadow Attorney-General and Shadow Minister for Indigenous Australians quit citing the party's "no" stance on a constitutionally enshrined Indigenous Voice to Parliament, whilst former Minister for Indigenous Australians Minister Ken Wyatt tendered his resignation to the party on Thursday.
It comes less than one week after Opposition Leader Peter Dutton announced the Liberal Party's decision to oppose a constitutionally enshrined Voice to Parliament.
Given the resignations from Mr Wyatt from the party and Mr Leeser from the frontbench, many MPs and other political figures have begun to react with a mixture of reactions.
Current Minister for Indigenous Affairs Linda Burney thanked Mr Wyatt in a tweet for "standing up for recognition".
Thank you Ken Wyatt for standing up for recognition.
It has been a long & hard road but we are closer now than ever.
History is made by those that stand up for what they believe in.
Let's work together and get this done.
Vote "Yes" for constitutional recognition.

In a statement on Tuesday, Ms Burney also applauded Mr Leeser's decision to side with the yes campaign.
Minister for the Environment and Water Tanya Plibersek made her support for Mr Leeser's decision clear, calling it an act of integrity.
Julian Leeser stepping down from shadow cabinet instead of campaigning against Indigenous recognition is an act of integrity and decency.
It's not too late for Peter Dutton to hear his message and rethink his position.

Independent Member for Kooyong Monique Ryan also backed Mr Leeser's decision.
I agree with Andrew Bragg and Julian Leeser; the Voice referendum is too important to this country for our elected representatives to be playing politics with it.
We're lucky to live in a democracy where politicians can act with courage and integrity. https://t.co/wT0dRjgZqs

Senator Malarndirri McCarthy called Mr Leeser a man of principle.

While Nationals senator and 'no' campaigner Jacinta Nampijinpa-Price similarly said Mr Leeser is a person of principle despite his decision.
"This will likely have a substantial impact on the undecided and current no votes," she said.
"He's certainly shown himself to be a person of principle, as well as incredibly well informed and committed."
Labor MP for Whitlam Stephen Jones made poignant remarks on Mr Wyatt's resignation on Twitter.
Ken Wyatt and I entered Parliament in the same year. He as a Liberal, me for Labor.
We got on well. He was a loyal Liberal and a decent man.
He gave credibility to the Libs on indigenous policy. They let him down.
His resignation would have been tough but very understandable pic.twitter.com/pfvowWFoSp

While Attorney-General Mark Dreyfus said he was looking forward to campaigning with Mr Leeser and it was not too late for Dutton to change his mind.
"Ken Wyatt, the former Minister for Indigenous Australians, quit the Liberal Party because he could not support Mr Dutton's position," he said in a Tweet.
"It's not too late for Mr Dutton to change his mind."
I look forward to campaigning for Yes with Julian Leeser at the upcoming referendum.
Mr Leeser's decision shows that Australians of all political persuasions are coming together to support the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice.

Liberal MP Bridget Archer who has previously said she will campaign 'yes' for the Voice also threw her support behind Mr Leeser.
Much respect for @JulianLeeser - courage and integrity #yes #auspol https://t.co/7UPfZhOn7G

Her support for the Voice was mirrored by the country's highest elected Liberal, Tasmanian Premier Jeremy Rockliff who has made his position on the Voice referendum clear.
"Of course the way forward it to support the Voice, support the recognition in the constitution, consult with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, First Nations people..." he recently told the ABC.
