Former Western Bulldogs and West Coast forward Josh Carter has signed with local footy outfit Point Cook ahead of the 2025 Western Region Football League season.

Carter (formerly Hill) played 173 AFL games in a career that spanned over a decade at the elite level.

The 35-year-old will add a much-needed layer of experience to a Point Cook side that struggled across the 2024 season, finishing on the bottom of the Division One ladder with just three wins.

The club released a statement during the week announcing the arrival of the former Bulldog and Eagle.

"The Point Cook Football Club is thrilled to announce that Josh Carter (formerly Hill) has signed with the club for the 2025 season," the club said.

"Josh is an exciting forward who played 178 games in the AFL, representing both the Western Bulldogs and West Coast Eagles, and kicking 224 goals.

"A key figure in the 2015 AFL Grand Final, Josh's career has been nothing short of impressive."

The club said that Carter's influence will extend to off the field as well and that he would likely take on a leadership role within the club.

"As a proud Indigenous man, Josh's contributions extend beyond the field.

"Playing representative football with the Indigenous All-Stars is a career highlight, and he is eager to take on a leadership role within the club, particularly in promoting NAIDOC Week activities in 2025.

"His passion for education and cultural awareness is sure to leave a lasting impact on the club and the community.

"Josh's experience, mentorship, and dedication will be invaluable to our young playing group."

The talented forward was originally drafted into the AFL with selection 61 in the 2006 AFL National Draft.

After spending five seasons at the Bulldogs culminating in 66 games, he was traded back home to West Coast where he played a further 107 games before ultimately being delisted at the end of the 2017 season.

Carter had a career-best season in 2015, finishing with 40 goals from 22 games, including winning the Ross Glendenning Medal with a four-goal performance against Fremantle in the derby.
