The Goori-Bugg Organising Committee has announced the Worimi & Birrpai Youth Gathering, a celebration of "culture, connection, and community" for young Worimi and Birrpai people.
Taking place on Saturday 1 November 2025 at Saltwater Beach, Wallabi Point NSW, the free event will run from 9am to 4pm and feature a day of Goori cultural workshops, storytelling, and traditional practices guided by respected community facilitators and artists.
Workshops include: Weaving with Wanita Lowe; Gunya Building with Mudjai; Emu Egg Carving with Kraka; Canoe Making with Warragul Waz; Shell Necklaces with Aunty Vickie Heath; Sand Design with Dennis Golding and Lowell Hunter; Grass Skirt Making with Kylie Campbell and Paula Maling; and Goori Song and Dance with Uncle Justin Ridgway, Emily Heath and Jacob Ridgeway.
The gathering also offers Worimi and Birrpai youth a free bush tucker lunch of Kangaroo stew and/or fresh local fish cooked in paperbark provided by Worimi Local Aboriginal Land Council and the opportunity to connect with Culture, Country, and Community through hands-on learning and creative expression.
All Worimi and Birrpai youth are encouraged to attend and take part in this cultural celebration.
