The 17-year-old suspect in the death of Indigenous woman Diane Miller has been charged with murder.

The teenager who allegedly threw a concrete block through a car window outside Waterford Plaza, striking Ms Miller in the head, was originally charged with greivous bodily harm after the 29 November incident.

The 30-year-old woman, who was pregnant, suffered cardiac arrest and died on 2 December.

On Thursday Homicide Squad detectives upgraded the charge against the teenager to murder.

He is due to appear in Perth Children's Court on Friday 9 December.

On the day of Ms Miller's death her family said they would leave the investigation and the pursuit of justice to the police and the courts.

Ms Miller is survived by her husband, Phillip Edmonds, their 8-month-old son Lloyde, and an extended family by whom she was much-loved.
