First Peoples Disability Network have been engaged by the Quality and Safeguard Commission to gather feedback and is conducting a survey about mandatory NDIS registration for providers delivering High Intensity Daily Personal Activities and Assistance with Daily Personal Activities.

These supports include complex care, such as catheter care and tube feeding, and everyday personal care, such as showering, dressing and using the toilet.

The requirements will begin from 1 July 2027, with all affected providers expected to be registered by the end of 2030.

Announcing the survey, the First Peoples Disability Network noted the decision to expand mandatory registration "has already been made by the federal government", and "consultation focuses on how the changes are introduced and the proposed definitions of the supports covered".

"We want to understand potential impacts on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with disability, their families, communities and providers, including culturally safe services, choice and control, trusted workers, ACCOs, ACCHOs and smaller providers," FPDN said.

The survey includes more information about the proposed changes and the supports covered to help people complete their responses. The feedback will inform FPDN's response to the consultation.

The survey can be completed online, and the closing date is Tuesday, October 20.

People with questions or seeking another way to provide feedback can contact the Network on [email protected].
