Queensland's Minister for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders has indefinitely postponed meeting with representatives of the state's Truth-telling and Healing Inquiry.

Minister Fiona Simpson was set to meet with Inquiry chairpoerson Joshua Creamer on Thursday afternoon.

Early on Thursday, the Inquiry was advised by Minister Simpson the meeting would be postponed, with no alternate date currently advised.

"As for clarification as to why the meeting was postponed – we can say the Minister said she needs more time to seek further advice to inform the discussions," an Inquiry spokesperson told National Indigenous Times.

The new LNP Queensland government confirmed late last month that it would freeze the Inquiry and abolish the state's Path to Treaty Act.

The move has been widely condemned, with the Healing Foundation, Independent Education Union, First Nations Human Rights Commissioner, and Yoorrook Justice Comission among many calling for the Queensland government to reconsider the decision.

Mr Creamer has warned of a "lost opportunity" for the state to reckon with its past - and present - and move forward.

"Ceasing the inquiry's work in this way continues 165 years of government failing to listen to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples," he said on Wednesday.

National Indigenous Times has contacted Minister Simpson for comment.
