The Aboriginal flag has gone viral through a TikTok video after an Australian expatriate was filmed explaining the meaning behind the flag at a FIFA World Cup match.

Australian sports blogger Suey Ajibeh attended the Australia v Denmark match at Al Janoub Stadium on November 30 with his uncle who works in Qatar.

They brought the Aboriginal flag with them and proceeded to explain to locals the cultural significance behind the flag.

In the video his uncle Jacob can be seen telling another person how the the red in the flag represents the Earth, the yellow represents the sun and the black symbolises the Aboriginal people, the "original Australians".

The video, which has amassed over 900k views on TikTok, has attracted a huge number of comments from First Nations Australians.

"Thankyou from Ngarrindjeri & Narungga Aboriginal nations," one commenter writes.

"This gave me goosebumps," another TikTok user commented.

Uncle Jacob told the ABC they had some issues bringing the flag in as officials didn't recognise it at first.

"I said 'but this is our Indigenous flag', so we waited 20 minutes and we were adamant we're not going in (without it)," he said.

"One of the police officers looked it up...so they approved it and we came in; we were ecstatic.

"We weren't coming to the game without the flag, with both our flags."
