New Yolŋu-led Foundation 'ḺUNDU' has officially launched, showcasing two Australian icons, East Arnhem Land and supermodel and entrepreneur Elle Macpherson, on the cover of the October issue of Harper's BAZAAR Australia.

ḺUNDU is a Yolŋu-led platform, grounded in East Arnhem Land that works to create real-world opportunities for First Nations creatives in remote communities.

Derived from the Yolŋu language, ḺUNDU means friend or sweetheart, and exists to walk alongside individuals as they cross from potential to opportunity.

Through creative production, paid work, mentorship and industry connection, ḺUNDU brings people together, creating opportunities designed to ripple outward.

Yolŋu creativity, knowledge and capability already exist and ḺUNDU has been established to help create the work, connections and visibility for the future.

As ḺUNDU's founding launch project, and largest in four years, five emerging Yolŋu creatives worked alongside industry leaders on a national masthead shoot, working with production, Macpherson and ḺUNDU building their credits, relationships and experience on Country.

Co-founded by celebrated designer and talented First Nations creative Liandra Gaykamangu, the foundation has been crafted by one of the industry's top creatives.

"We built ḺUNDU to connect First Nations creatives living in remote and regional communities with real opportunities, networks and industry professionals," said ḺUNDU chief executive and co-founder Liandra Gaykamangu.

"Because we know that when the right support sits around an individual, one opportunity can travel so much further, creating things like income, confidence and new possibilities.

"To work with Elle and Harpers BAZAAR for ḺUNDU's founding launch project is a collaboration that embodies the foundation's ethos. To see emerging Yolŋu creatives work alongside such a legendary industry icon has been a ḺUNDU dream."

Throughout Elle's phenomenal forty-year career, the WelleCo founder and creative director has connected with people and projects that resonate with her values, forging a path of success and influence.

"This experience was profound. I've spent my life travelling the world, yet this trip gave me a deep connection to my own country, land and First Nations peoples," said Macpherson.

"It was a privilege to see the work that Ḻundu initiates up close and listen to the wise elders, to be present on country and to be connected to the journey building creative pathways from remote communities into real work for First Nations creatives. I'm longing to come back."

The Ḻundu Foundation will continue to provide more incredible pathways for emerging creatives over the coming months and in to 2027.
