West Coast forward Tyler Brockman has been fined after pleading guilty to charges related to a road incident following a family funeral near Broome in May, according to local reports.

As reported by the Geraldton Guardian, the 21-year-old entered endorsed pleas to one count each of careless driving, failure to report to police, and failure to stop after driving a vehicle involved in an accident with property damage.

Brockman did not appear as he prepares for the Eagles match with Melbourne at the MCG on Sunday.

According to the outlet, the court heard Brockman's vehicle collided with a light pole failing to negotiate a roundabout before he and a passenger left on foot to meet with family for assistance and removing the car a short time later.

Magistrate Matthew Walton said it was "obvious there are deeply suspicious circumstances" while handing down his verdict - a $1400 fine for the footballer.

It's understood there were no injuries related to the crash reported.

His pleading to the charges at the earliest opportunity was taken into account, according to the Geraldton Guardian.

Character submissions from West Coast Indigenous player development manager Chance Bateman, his former coach at Hawthorn Sam Mitchell and Wesley College head of physical education Paul Deegan were heard on Friday.

Brockman was charged in May, and offered an apology with the Eagles announcing he would undertake a wellbeing and education program.

"I would like to apologise for my actions. I accept I have to make some changes to meet AFL standards on and off the field," Brockman said via a West Coast statement.

"I look forward to working on the things I need to do so I can return to playing football."

The ex-Hawk was stood down from football for a period before making his return to the AFL side in recent weeks.

In a statement on Friday, West Coast said Brockman would continue to attend the programs facilitated by the club, where it was said he has been making progress.

"As previously stated, Brockman's situation is complex and the club will continue supporting and working with him around his personal development," the Eagles said.
