North Melbourne co-captain Jy Simpkin has been cleared to return for the first time in over a month.
North head of performance Kevin White told club media Simpkin has "fully recovered" from a quad strain that kept him out of the side for their previous three matches against Gold Coast, Essendon and Port Adelaide ahead of their round 12 bye at the weekend.
The 26-year-old is fit to travel with the side for their upcoming match against West Coast in Perth on Saturday.
"Jy has now fully recovered from that quad strain and has ticked off his return to play markers throughout the past week," White said.
"He is taking part in unrestricted, full-group training and will be available to play this week."
The timing couldn't come soon enough for the struggling Roos yet to grasp their first win for the season.
Simpkin's own form had been a talking point through the opening stages of the year.
The Yorta Yorta man is averaging below-personal standards at 15 touches after an interruption affected campaign, including a period sidelined with concussion following a preseason incident with the Saints' Jimmy Webster and after tearing a tendon in his finger ahead of round one of the premiership season.
In January, Simpkin said the club were keen to turn their fortunes around after consecutive years at the bottom of the ladder.
"Everyone on the list now is sick of being where we are. We've been down in the bottom few for three, four, five years. Everyone's sick of it," he said.
