Former Geelong midfielder Brandan Parfitt has signed with West Australian Football League club Perth for the 2025 season.

Parfitt played 130 games at the elite level for the Cats before being delisted at the conclusion of the 2024 season.

The Larrakia and Warumungu man was a member of Geelong's 2022 premiership team, but fell out of favour for senior selection in the proceeding years.

He will join three other former Cats players – Charlie Constable, Sam Simpson and Blake Schlensog – at the WAFL club.

Perth's General Manager of Football Brad Dodd – who coached Parfitt at North Adelaide in 2016 – said that the new recruit was a 'fantastic' addition to the squad.

"His ability to be clean around stoppage, his creative hands and an ability to hit the scoreboard will really add to our midfield group," Dodd said via the club's social media.

"One of our major aims was to add to our midfield group and we won't get a much better addition than Brandan."

Parfitt said that he was looking forward to joining his former Cats teammates and soaking up the Western Australian lifestyle.

"While Doddy will think our relationship got me over the line, I'm really looking forward to teaming up with Charlie, Sam and Blake and trying to build something special at the Demons," he said.

"Success has been hard to come by for the club but I can already sense a determination for the seasons ahead.

"They boys all speak highly of the club and the people involved and I'm looking forward to getting to work.

"I'm also looking a fresh start and I've always admired WA: the beaches, the weather and the laidback lifestyle".

Parfitt joined the Cats after being selected with pick 26 in the 2016 AFL National Draft.

He was a consistent member of Geelong's strong on-ball brigade during the early stages of his career, averaging 18 games per season between 2017 and 2022.

A tough midfielder, the 26-year-old placed second overall in the AFL for tackles in the 2020 season.

He recorded nine games for the Cats in 2024, averaging 17 disposals and five clearances per game.

When not in the senior team, Parfitt produced outstanding football in the VFL and this season collected over 20 disposals in eight of his 11 VFL games, including a 36-disposal performance against Collingwood in Round 16.

The Territorian said that he was very thankful for the opportunities he received at Geelong.

"I played with some amazing players and in some big games, which was awesome and something I'll cherish forever.

"I had to deal with injuries, form and selection struggles and now a delisting - so I've had the full AFL experience.

"These are lessons learnt and character building and hopefully I can draw on these and help support the younger generation as they embark of their own journeys."
