Fresh from Yarilla collection's debut launch at Australian Fashion Week, First Nations womenswear and lifestyle brand Miimi and Jiinda have announced their new Yarilla Resort collection is now available for pre-order.

Designed on Gumbaynggirr Country by talented founder and designer Melissa Greenwood, the Yarilla collection has been proudly made by Miimi & Jiinda's talented team on Gadigal land, using a variety of sustainable fabrics including 100 per cent linen and 100 per cent silk.

With pre-orders available now until the 23 July – with deliveries expected in September 2024 – the new collection has been designed on a made-to-order basis to further reflect the brands value towards both sustainability and caring for Country.

Made-to-order fashion is a considered manufacturing tool Miimi & Jiinda utilise to help reduce garment waste, proudly creating slow fashion responsibly, and supporting a circular system of design, production and consumption.

Bringing production onshore also means Miimi & Jiinda can be assured of ethical processes involving fair wages, minimising waste and maximising resources.

Miimi & Jiinda also prioritise and support the talents of locals and Australian small businesses; pattern makers, cutters, textile designers, and suppliers, with a significant focus on partnering with Indigenous professionals, wherever possible.

This value towards sustainable materials and ethical practices is conveyed throughout the Yarilla Resort collection via the collections selected use of materials, tonal hues and symbolic meaning.

The collection celebrates Miimi & Jiinda's beautiful Gumbaynggirr homelands and their matriarchs who inspire everything they do.

Each garment featured within the collection is adorned with limited edition Miimi & Jiinda original artworks, telling stories of Country.

"The name of our collection "Yarilla" is a Gumbaynggirr word meaning to "light up and illuminate," artist and designer Melissa Greenwood said.

"Our culture is Matriarchal, and I love to tell stories of strong, heart-centred women.

"Throughout the collection you will see beautiful blue and green hues representing our gaagal (oceans) and bindarray (rivers). Earthy pinks, browns and yellows of our beautiful Miimi Maaral (Mother Earth), her sunrises, sunsets and moonlit skies."

With critics and customers adoring the brand's new Yarilla Resort collection since it first debuted on the Australian Fashion Week runway in May 2024, the collection is sure to be yet another Miimi & Jiinda sell-out.
