The streets of Boorloo (Perth) are about to hear the sounds of Australia's best First Nations talent with Flewnt's Boorloo Block Party being featured during the Perth Festival in February.

Nyoongar and Wongi rapper Josh Eggington who goes by the stage name Flewnt will headline and host the line up of stars which includes "the matriarch of of Australian rap" (GQ) Baarka, as well as Kobie Dee and MissGenius with new artists to be announced in the next month.

Eggington, who has been making music since age 11 and took his talent professionally in the last few years, is a regular on the Boorloo entertainment scene with upcoming events including special features at Metropolis Fremantle.

Known for using his creative gift as a tool to share knowledge and put out important messages, Eggington expresses himself and talks about the importance of culture through his music often seen supporting mob through local events and rallies. His sights now set on building a platform for other artists in Western Australia to showcase their talents and creative works.

"We created Flewnt's Block Party because I want to highlight the amazing talent that we have all over the country and being able to build a solid foundation of support," Eggington said.

"We've got so much musical talent here and now we've got a platform for them to be able to jump up and really show their talent, that's what we're trying to build, this is something that is on a larger scale that really is ours. We can hold it and have pride in it in that way you know."

As Australia's longest running arts festival, Perth Festival brings the best artists from all over Western Australia and the world in the month-long event and has worked closely with Eggington and it's Nyoongar Advisory Circle to ensure First Nations artists are included and celebrated throughout the festivities.

Flewnt's Boorloo Block Party will take stage at The Rechabite on Saturday 18th of February. Tickets are available at: https://www.perthfestival.com.au/events/flewnt-s-boorloo-block-party/
