Liam Ryan has been cleared by the AFL and WA Police after it was found the West Coast forward was among the victims in a violent incident at a festival last month.
In mid-January, video footage of a physical altercation between Ryan and another male circulated online.
The Eagles forwarded the matter to the AFL Integrity Unit.
On Monday, the league announced no further action would be taken against Ryan following their own inquiries and police investigations, which determined he and the group he was with were "the victims of an attack by a larger group of people whilst leaving the event".
It was found Ryan had attempted to de-escalate the situation, and had been treated as a witness by police, who were present in the area at the time of the incident.
WA Police informed the league Ryan had been cooperative and also provided a statement in relation to the matter.
"WA police confirmed to the AFL that officers were in the area at the time of the fight and that Ryan was being treated as a witness to an incident where his group was pursued by a larger group, resulting in one of his female companions being assaulted and suffering facial injuries," an AFL statement issued on Monday read.
"It was determined that Ryan attempted to de-escalate the incident and walk away from the group before being confronted, leading to the fight that was captured on social media."
The league added Ryan was not drinking on the night.
