Mitakoodi batting all-rounder D'Arcy Short has swapped purple for blue after signing a two-year deal with the Adelaide Strikers.
The hard-hitting left-handed batter and left arm wrist spin bowler joins the Strikers following a long-term stint with the Hobart Hurricanes.
After six seasons and 82 games with the 'Canes, Short said he was looking forward to a new opportunity with the Strikers, who finished seventh in BBL|12 with a 5-9 record.
"This is a new challenge for me and I am excited to get to work in Adelaide," Short said.
"Adelaide Oval is such an incredible place to play cricket and I look forward to running out with my new teammates in front of big crowds – I can't wait to get going."
Short averaged 37.06 with the bat during his time with the Hurricanes whilst also developing into a useful limited overs leg spinner.
Along with 2706 runs, Short took 34 wickets in purple at an average of 36.71, with a best bowling of 5-21.
However it was his top order batting that saw him as the Big Bash's dominant batter for multiple seasons, leading to back-to-back Player of the Tournament awards following strong performances in BBL|07 and BBL|08.

His top score of 122* (69) came in BBL|07, a breakout season for Short where he struck a tournament-high 26 sixes to lead all batters with 572 runs.
Short departs Hobart as the competition's fourth highest run scorer all time, behind Chris Lynn (3421), Aaron Finch (3245) and Jon Wells (2797).
"I am so thankful to the Hurricanes for my time in Hobart, it has been an absolute joy and I will always cherish the friendships and memories formed there," Short said of his time as a Hobart Hurricane.
Adelaide Strikers coach - and one of two Indigenous men to have played test cricket for Australia - Jason Gillespie said he is pleased to be adding a player of Short's calibre to the Strikers' list.
"We're really excited that D'Arcy has decided to join the Strikers, he's a strong T20 player and brings that Australian experience too," Gillespie said.
"As a two-time Player of the Tournament, we've all seen what he can do in the Big Bash, he's a powerful batter with the ability to bowl valuable overs.
"We're looking forward to welcoming D'Arcy to Adelaide and for him to strengthen our squad."
Short is the second Indigenous cricketer to leave Hobart for another franchise ahead of the upcoming 13th instalment of the BBL, with Gulidjan quick Scott Boland returning to his hometown Melbourne Stars.
The BBL|13 season commences December 7 with the Brisbane Heat hosting the Stars, with Short's first opportunity as a Striker coming two days later when Adelaide host Brisbane at Adelaide Oval.
