Former Sydney midfielder James Bell has joined Greater Western Sydney's VFL program in the hope of reviving his AFL career.
The 26-year-old will also begin pre-season training with the Giants' AFL squad in the hope of impressing the club's recruiting and list management team.
Originally from Shellharbour, Bell played 28 AFL games for the Swans after progressing through the club's Academy program.
After being delisted at the end of the 2022 season, Bell shifted to South Australia and quickly became a key figure at Glenelg, helping the Tigers secure back-to-back SANFL premierships before reaching a third straight grand final in 2025.
Bell averaged 18 disposals and five tackles across 22 games this season with his leadership qualities and hard-edge around the contest earning him the opportunity to reignite his AFL ambitions with the Giants.
His best games included a 22-disposal 10-clearance performance against Norwood in Round 11, and a 20-disposal two-goal effort in a narrow win over North Adelaide later in the season.
Bell was linked to play in the Northern Territory Football League over the summer months, but opted against it when this opportunity arose.

Giants Head of Talent Adrian Caruso said the club was thrilled to bring Bell into its system.
"It's great to be adding someone with James' experience and talent to our program," Caruso said.
"Not only has he played at the highest level and played almost 30 games of AFL footy, but he's been part of a really successful program at Glenelg in the SANFL, and we're excited about how he can help our program in 2026.
"He's tough, powerful, and has a great attack on the footy, and he'll add some real grunt and leadership to our midfield.
"James still has the desire to play at the highest level, and training in our AFL program and performing in what we believe will be an exciting and strong VFL team will hopefully help give him that opportunity to try and get back into the AFL system."
A multisport talent in his youth, he initially excelled in soccer before committing fully to football, eventually joining the Swans as a Category B rookie in 2017.
Bell's journey since then has included AFL exposure, SANFL success and now another shot to impress recruiters through the VFL.
His three-year stint at Glenelg showcased the maturity and consistency he developed after leaving Sydney.
Bell began training with the club on Monday.
