A new children's book by and Ngiyampaa and Wiradjuri author Taylor Hampton and his partner, Jacinta Daniher, invites young readers to celebrate culture through music, dance and connection to Country.
'Our Dance,' released on 30 April, is a vibrant and interactive picture book illustrated by Noongar artist Janelle Burger.
The story follows children as they slither, jump, crawl and fly like native animals during a joyful corroboree under the stars.
Mr Hampton said the inspiration for the book came from a gap he noticed while delivering cultural workshops in early learning settings.
"I realised there were books around Aboriginal people, but none that showed the diversity of what Mob looks like today," he said.
"We wanted to create something for our young kids to resonate with.
"Where they can see people who look like them and be proud of who they are."

Ms Daniher, an early childhood educator, said their own children, Ella and Arlo, were a driving force behind the project.
"We wanted them to be able to have books where they could say, 'Oh, that looks just like me,'" she said.
Mr Hampton added that both children appear as illustrated characters in Our Dance.
"They'll be able to go to school and say, 'This is me in the book,' and feel that pride and celebrate their identity," she said.
The couple co-founded Birrang Cultural Connections in 2019 to deliver cultural education in preschools and childcare centres.
The book builds on their work in promoting positive representation and early cultural awareness.
Mr Hampton said Our Dance aims to empower Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal children alike.
"We want all kids to see the positives of celebrating culture," he said.
"There's a lot of negativity out there, on social media, in the news, and we wanted to show that celebrating culture can be fun, meaningful and something to be proud of."
Ms Daniher echoed this view, saying it's "important to remember the past, but also to find joy in culture".
The pair worked closely with illustrator Janelle Burger to bring the book's vision to life.
"We were really impressed with how Janelle captured different stories through her art,' Mr Hampton said.
"We sent her photos of our kids and gave feedback on making them look older or younger.
"She was really easy to communicate with and had a real sense of pride in the work."
Ms Daniher said they also incorporated cultural artefacts into the pages to encourage classroom discussion.
"There's a didgeridoo, boomerang, woomera, woven basket and more. It lets educators pause and explore each item with the children," she said.
Following the success of their first book Our Mob, the couple have signed a two-book deal with Hachette.
"Our first book helped get our name out there," Ms Daniher said.
"That opened the door to working with Hachette."
Mr Hampton confirmed a third book is on the way and said Our Dance will also feature a companion song.
"We've been working with Gamilaraay musician Sue Ray, who's put some of the words from the book into a fun, engaging dance song," he said.
"It'll be released around the same time, so kids can sing and dance along while reading."
Our Dance is available now in bookstores nationwide and will be officially launched on Saturday 17 May at Booktique Albury at 2pm.
