The winners of the Queensland 2023 Telstra Best of Business Awards have been announced, with Hillery Group taking home the coveted Indigenous Excellence category. This category is awarded to Indigenous-led, owned, and operated businesses that are making a difference through entrepreneurship, innovation, and inspiring the next generation of all Australians.
Hillery Group is a family-owned business founded by local Bowen couple in 1976. Over the years, the business has thrived under the leadership of the next generation, Luke Hillery, Chief Executive Officer, and Liam Hillery, Director-Operations.
The Hillery brother's vision for the business has always been about endurance and providing sustainable work to the community, and they have achieved this by owning and operating five quarries in the Bowen & Collinsville regions, leasing a sand reserve in the Don River, and providing quarry products, landscaping supplies, and plant hire to mining and civil construction companies.
Telstra's Best of Business Awards is an annual recognition of small and medium-sized businesses that are making a difference in the country.
The other QLD winners included:
Accelerating Women: Struber
Building Communities: Goodwill Projects
Championing Health: 1300 MEDICS
Embracing Innovation: Abundance Global
Outstanding Growth: Valenhold
Promoting Sustainability: Pleasant State
Telstra Retail and Regional Executive, Amanda Hutton, congratulated all the Queensland winners, saying that "To be recognised as a state winner in the Telstra Best of Business Awards is an incredible achievement, and we hope this provides each business with a well-deserved moment of celebration for the amazing work they are doing in their community."
The state winners will now go on to represent their state and territory at the national experience on Wednesday, 22 March, where they will pitch their business to a panel of judges.
The event will culminate in the 2023 Telstra Best of Business Awards National Gala dinner on Thursday 23 March, where the top businesses moving Australia forward will be revealed, along with the Business of the Year.
