WA Police intercepted seven alleged outlaw motorcycle gang members en route to Western Australia's Kimberley and issued each a dispersal notice.

The Kimberley covers the state's far north and is home to regional centres including Broome and Kununurra, as well as dozens of remote Aboriginal communities.

Intelligence officers spotted one Raiders member and six Mongols members heading north along the Great Northern Highway at 12:40 pm on July 16, according to WA police.

Officers from Broome and Bidyadanga set up a checkpoint, stopping and searching the seven riders and their motorcycles.

Each rider received a dispersal notice, barring them from meeting in public for the next seven days.

Police also handed a 36-year-old rider a traffic infringement notice for allegedly failing to ride properly.

Kimberley District Superintendent John Hutchison said police would use Western Australia's anti-gang laws to prevent outlaw motorcycle gangs from establishing a presence in the region.

"Outlaw motorcycle gang members should be under no illusion — if you come to the Kimberley intending to intimidate, recruit, associate with criminal activity or establish a presence, you will attract our attention, and police will target you," Spt. Hutchison said.

"We will use every lawful power available to disrupt their movements, dismantle their influence and prevent them from gaining a foothold in our communities.

"The Kimberley is not open for organised crime."

WA Police said it will keep acting on public tip-offs, including any footage that could help officers enforce the law.
